Acceptable Use Policy

1. Overview

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) governs your use of the SurePing platform and forms part of our Terms of Service. By using SurePing, you agree to comply with this policy. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this AUP.

2. Permitted Use

SurePing is designed for legitimate uptime and performance monitoring. You may use the Service to:

  • Monitor the availability and response time of websites, APIs, and services you own or have authorisation to monitor.
  • Monitor SSL certificate expiry for domains you manage.
  • Monitor port availability on servers you control.
  • Set up heartbeat/cron monitors for scheduled tasks you operate.
  • Create public status pages for services you are responsible for.

3. Prohibited Activities

You must not use SurePing to:

  • Monitor without authorisation: monitor websites, servers, or services you do not own or do not have explicit permission to monitor.
  • Conduct attacks: use monitoring checks as a vector for denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, load testing, stress testing, or any form of service disruption.
  • Abuse check frequency: configure monitors in a way that generates excessive or unreasonable traffic to any target, beyond what is needed for legitimate monitoring.
  • Exploit vulnerabilities: use monitoring features to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network.
  • Distribute malware: use status pages or any part of the Service to host, distribute, or link to malicious software.
  • Mislead or impersonate: create status pages that impersonate other organisations or misrepresent the status of services you do not operate.
  • Illegal activity: use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable local, national, or international laws or regulations.
  • Circumvent limits: create multiple free accounts to bypass plan limits, or use automated tools to circumvent rate limiting or usage restrictions.
  • Abuse alerts: configure alert contacts to harass, spam, or send unsolicited messages to third parties.
  • Resell without agreement: resell or redistribute the Service to third parties without a written reseller agreement.

4. Fair Use

All plans, including the Free plan, are subject to fair-use limits. We monitor usage patterns to ensure the platform remains performant for all users. If your usage significantly exceeds typical patterns for your plan tier, we may contact you to discuss upgrading or adjusting your usage.

5. Enforcement

Violations of this AUP may result in:

  • A warning via email.
  • Temporary suspension of your account or specific monitors.
  • Permanent termination of your account without refund.
  • Reporting to law enforcement authorities if illegal activity is suspected.

We will make reasonable efforts to contact you before taking action, unless the violation poses an immediate risk to our platform or other users.

6. Reporting Violations

If you believe someone is violating this Acceptable Use Policy, please report it to [email protected]. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when changes are made. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
